I am so sick of being sick! I had a cold about a week and a half ago. Not a big deal I got off easy. Then Gavin started to get sick on Friday night. He didn't sleep for 3 nights! Poor guy his voice is all raspy and he has a sad little cough. The worst was that on sunday night he woke up with his eyes glued shut! It was so sad! On Monday I started to have a really really bad sore throat and I thought wait I just got over a cold. This was different thought my throat felt like I had swallowed razor blades and I can't stop coughing! So because of the fact that I have been sick for about two weeks straight I have decided not to be sick EVER AGAIN! I am going to end this stupid cold. I am not going to let it spread to anyone else. So I am not leaving the house until we are all better! So this way it's like I'm killing it. HA take that cold! Ok.....ok...... I do have to pick up my baby brother from the airport tonight, but I will not touch anything or cough on anyone. I am going to take a really good cough suppressant and call it good. I just hate how colds spread. If you have a cold just stay home and let it die don't keep it going no on likes to be sick! Ok Ok I'm done. I just hate seeing Gavin sad.

I sent him downstairs while I unloaded the dishwasher. This is how I found him. You can't see it from this picture but the entire back of his head was covered in drywall mud! He apparently thought it was gel. T.j. is still finding little hand prints and drawings on the walls downstairs. He also likes the taste. yuk!

He really can't move very well in this. His arms have a slight pitch to them.

I kept finding the syrup stuck to my carpet. This is when I finally caught him sneaking it. I think he thought that if he closed his eye's I couldn't see him.

I sent my broken computer away to get fixed back on the 22 of December. I picked it up 3 weeks later only to bring it home to find out that it was still broken! I took it back they sent it away again. I got a phone call from the guy fixing it. He asked my what he was supposed to fix? He couldn't replicate the problem so he sent it back! I just picked it up and am waiting for it to break again. I am going to have to destroy it in order for it to finally get fixed. So until then I can finally blog.

I think it went well...... Better than I thought it would. I even gave him a candy cane! I felt bad but I was laughing the whole time. My friend Jamie's little boy is about the same age, you should have seen his photo, pretty much the same thing. I mean its the first santa photo it's supposed to look like this. Here is our tree it is so pretty I love it. My uncle Larry let us cut it down at his "property" hehe. It was really fun to go see him and his family. He has the cutest wife and kids. My Dad also came down just so we could go get this. Thanks so much Dad and Uncle Larry! this is the nicest tree we have had. If you notice I didn't take a picture of the whole tree. For some reason I was unable to decorate about the first two feet. Some one wanted to chew on the lights.

He just got out of the bath and with all this gel in his hair I had to put him right back in.
Everyday now since this happened he has, has, has to have gel in his hair. Oh and hair spray.

I think Gavin is going threw a Daddy stage. I Love the way he looks in this hat.
It was really cold! Last year we waited to long and It snowed all winter. We usually do it after Thanksgiving but we didn't want to chance it.
Gavin is getting really good at posing. I will post pictures of the actual lights after the 27th. Our skin was so numb. I kept trying to have Gavin take a nap and of coarse not on the day we were doing lights, too much fun. This is also the day he ate all the dirt.

I bought a tree, tried to plant the tree. Gavin decided to help me dig the hole by eating all the dirt he could find. He really liked the hole I dug and wouldn't get out of it. Gavin looked so cute. I found this cute turtle shell and sewed it onto these long johns. I then Had to dye them and paint the chest. I was a little work but it turned out really cute.
He didn't want to wear the bandana so I just painted on on his head. It worked good until he itched his head.

Congratulations Senator Obama.

I have anxiety, lots of anxiety! Ok Calm down. Breath........ Here is a list of positives (I can't deal with the negative anymore).

1. Some people will get a $1000.00 tax credit until the year 2010 plus we will have the bush tax cuts at $2100.00 until 2010. (Obama is going to let that expire by the way)

2. He has promised to add a new category for bankruptcy caused by medical bills.

3. He is not Hillary (we may be rethinking her)

4. He is not Jimmy Carter (Hopefully)

5. America has elected the first black person to the highest post in the U.S. and I was here to witness it.

6. He will be a shining example and inspiration to the black community. As a two parent home this will be good support for out of wedlock births that have plagued black america since the 80's. Hopefully encouraging more self respect and holding father hood at a higher standard for them.

7. The media will have to learn how to eat one of its own "The Messiah"

8. Democrats are now 100% accountable and we will get to hold them accountable. They will no longer get to hide behind republicans. (A.K.A. fanny and freddie I recently watched a youtube video of a 2004 meeting to investigate the illegal bookkeeping of these two, the majority of democrats saw "no cause for concern". This was a C-span video in there own words. Republicans however were very worried and asked for more reform.)

9. Sarah Palin gets a chance to bolster her record in Alaska before running in 2012. As Thatcher saved Great Britain from socialism, so too will Palin save us from socialism.

10. America is resilient.

The far greater tragedy of this whole election and nomination is the "Freedom to Choose Act" this will inevitably be signed by President Obama, as soon as he takes office. This will overturn the ban on partial birth abortion that now exists. The lives lost to this horrific, barbaric and selfish practice could never be compared to all the taxation and socialism in the world. If only life were as important to Obama as he makes it appear on his commercials and Infomercial. I guess for Liberals you get Free health care, affordable education, Peace from war, Clean air, Social Security, Free prescription drugs, "Tolerance for others", and respect for all living things (trees, animals, fish). The catch is you have to make it out alive and wanted. It used to be alive.

He's getting to the stage were he wants to help with everything. He did a really good job helping me clean the stainless steel. If you click on this picture you can see the close up. He has a big scratch on his left eye where he fell down a few stairs, and on his cheek he has a bruise from when he did a super man in to the railing. He has a matching bruise on the other side.

When ever I have taken Gavin to the petting zoo or to see other animals he is usually fearless but for some reason he was so afraid at this petting zoo in Arizona.
This crazy goat was possessed (hopefully that is correct spelling, I am sure I will hear if it isn't) I think Kaden made friends with it.

Wow! This was a very hot day! We went to a really cute local farm in Arizona. I don't remember the name though. So there wasn't any shade, no breeze and a lot of little school kids clogging up the lines to the rides. We stayed for 2 hours. It felt a lot longer.

He's very comfortable with the fact that it's a pink chair. This is a great picture.

He really lives it up when Sophia is having a nap. He really doesn't mind just backing it up and sitting on her. Poor Sophia she's too nice to do anything.
This is a rare occasion when he wasn't crying or whining for me. He was fussy for about the first 3 days. Oh I am so glad the rash is finally gone! All it took was A&D ointment.
This reminds me of T.J. when he was little. He's so skinny! He has spent most of his days on the stairs. Up and Down! He's getting to be such a little pro. Jessica luckily has the stairs that are split.

We found these glasses at the park and now Sophia is a movie star. She loves them. I can't believe how big she's!

Were Going to Arizona! Eventually

Here is the beginning of our 3 hour wait for the airplane thank goodness for this play area.
I can only imagin the germs. People kept stopping and watching him play it was really funny. Until he decided to start eating the foam blocks.
See the red goose egg on his head. This happend within the first 5 minutes of the airport. He thought he was stronger than the monkey leash. It was like watching the strongman competitions were they have to pull a bus. He didn't win.

Ahhh. At last we made it to Arizona. These too love to cuddle. Gavin love the little dog. But I don't think its mutual.

So I woke up early to catch a 9:00am flight to Arizona. Gavin didn't sleep good at all and I had to wake him up after just a couple of hours of sleep. So we started the day off kind of angry. We made it to the airport an hour early only too have to sky cab tell me that my flight had been cancelled and re booked for 11:00am the same day. He claimed he didn't know why (Mechanical is what they kept telling us. However they somehow managed to fit everyone from the 9 and 11 on the same plane with extra seats. Hmmm. That's convenient for them.) So I looked at T.J. and he said "I have to go to work good luck." Not a good feeling. But we made it.

This was the first professional picture we had done together. Can you tell how much T.J. wants to be done?
I thought that bench was going to break! It had a huge crack in it and then they wanted us to sit on it. I was so scared! Gavin just wanted to touch the camera.
I wish he wasn't looking at all the ducks. Do you like my fake hair? I put in my really great clip in extensions they are so nice. Its real hair too...creepy.
See how his pants are rolled up. They are for a 9 month old. HeHe. At the end of the day they had completely fallen off.
I loved these pictures. Right before the photographer started to shoot Gavin fell in between the benches seat. I think it mostly scared him. So these are what we got.
2 seconds after this he almost fell in the water. It was close. Thank goodness T.J. is quick. The biggest problem would have been if he would have caught them. I don't think they would have been as nice as the goat that sucked on his thumb.

I didn't mention where we had these done at so I'll tell you now. These were taken at gardener village. It is such a nice place to do this at because there are so many different types of scenery. Jim and Lisa's good friend did this for us just to be nice! I know! I really loved the ones of Gavin. He was really hyper I don't know if you can tell how much he was running around by his Bright Red cheeks. He did really good considering. I am so glad to have a family photo finally!

Swiss Days

This is during our wonderful swiss lunch. It was so much fun with Amy, Keri and Mckenna. I think the thing that made the lunch so swiss was the cheese.
Gavin actually did really good at staying in his stroller. We watched a dancing and singing show. I think it was polka music. Gavin just bounced up and down in his seat. It was really funny! Just the fact that it was polka music. Sorry Gavin that stays at the fair.
I almost died when he reached for this poor girls white shirt. He had jelly all over his hands.
It was a lot of fun hanging out with Keri. Gavin loves her.
I had to put Gavin on his Monkey leash. These poor people behind us were being harassed by him. They just kept feeding him. I told them not to unless they wanted to take him home. I have a feeling that he is always trying to get adopted when ever we go out. I waitress, cashier and a nice older couple at swiss days offered to let him go home with them. I always just say he's for rent between 9:00pm and 7:00am.

Sarah Palin! She has normal cute hair!

I am so excited about the new VP nominee. I, like a lot of other conservatives was not excited at all about McCain. But now with Palin I feel like there is hope. She is such a awesome women with out her political experience that with it she's amazing. I really love that she is in the race. I did some research about what she has accomplished in Alaska here is what I found out.

The state has a savings account! a savings account because of her. She is big on tax reform and cutting government spending.

A lot of people are going to bring up the fact that her husband works for the oil company's, saying that she's "in bed with them" This is completely untrue. Palin implemented the highest tax on oil companies in Alaskan history. With that money she was able to give everyone a $1200.00 tax rebate!

Palin has said that she is as "Pro life as any candidate can be". She's a great role model for the cause considering that her last child was born with downs syndrome. Palin found out at the beginning of the pregnancy.

Palin is a life long member of the NRA.

Her approval rating is in the 80-90% REALLY!

She was elected Governor despite the anti-republican feel that the race took.

Her son enlisted in the Army last year on September 11 and is now in IRAQ.

Fighting corruption; The prior administration in Alaska was corrupt. Palins first action as governor was to sell a jet purchased by the prior administration on state credit. She sacked several appointee's of the old governors due to what sounds like "none action" and bias. Here is a direct quote regarding this particular appointee. "Alaskans voted for change," said Palin. "Not just at the top level, but throughout government. Mr. Clark is on record opposing any pipeline proposals outside of the one he helped craft. That's a bias the ANGDA board doesn't need."

She reportedly broke in to the state republican boss's computer to find out if he had broken the state ethics law while a member of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. The republican boss resigned quickly thereafter. A technician said " it looked like he tried to delete this, but she knew a way to go around and get some of the deleted stuff". She means business.

She is suing the bush administration to prevent polar bears from being put on the endangered species list.

She is for drilling in ANWR

(Obama's would read elected to senate ran for president, I would really like to know even three things that Obama has actually done not just voted on. He doesn't even have executive experience. I am just confused as to why he is capable for the actual president seat? It's funny our vice president nominee is more qualified then there presidential nominee. Sarah Palin has actually produced the kind of Change that Obama can only talk about. HAHA.)

Also, she is the mother five children, including her special-needs son. Think that will stop her? That I thought was extremely impressive. I could go on. She means what she says and is a doer. She has a actual recored for keeping her promises. She's a saver and values our hard earned money. And hey she's a woman. I love her! McCain This is the first great decision you have made. Good Job!

The Petting Zoo

Yesterday Gavin and I went to the petting zoo at Gardner Village. My neighbor Jamey told me about it (Thanks Jamey!). He loved it. We rode a pony before we went through the zoo. Gavin was a pro he held on tight to the saddle and had the biggest grin the whole time. His horse sneezed a couple of times and Gavin just screamed. When the ride was over he wouldn't let go of the saddle. I had to pull him away from it. It was really cute how much he loved the horse's. Next time I'll bring T.j. so that we can get some pics. After all ridding horses is in his blood. I died at how close Gavin dared to get to this goat it was huge! I finally got scared and pulled him away. I could just see him getting mowed down by it. Scary.
I wish his eyes were opened.

Gavin is well if you can't tell a little crazy. I bought this cute monkey (leash) to help me hang on to him better. I think he just gets more frustrated when I use it. It's definitely a work out anytime we go out to a public place. We went to Sams club today and 6 different people came up to Gavin to talk to him. People just love him. Mostly old men (. For some reason they love him in his little hat. He's just such a friendly little guy. He's constantly waving and smiling at everyone.

Some sad news about Gavin we found out this week that he is for sure allergic to milk. Well cow's milk. Thank goodness for soy milk. He's definitely doing a lot better now that he's taking the soy. I am going to start to test him with other dairy products next week to see what it all includes. He has a small rash around his mouth from the milk that we need to get better first. Wish us luck.

Yes I forgot to get a good picture of the cute cake. It was a bunch of cupcakes pushed together to make a gold fish. It was good too.

The 14th was Gavin's first birthday. We had a big party with all our friends and family. Gavin had a great time. The party was at the Herriman splash pad and park, it was so much fun. We ate cake, pizza, played in the water and we even destroyed a pinyada (Jake told me how to spell that) Then after it was all over and Gavin had devoured the frosting off of one of the cup cakes he decided to run all the way around the park. T.J. and our friend Chris chased him. This was at 9:00 at night. This kid usually goes to bed at 7:00. He was breathing so heavy. It was really funny. I guess you can tell that was a lot of sugar for him. We really did have a blast and we were so excited that everyone was able to come and have fun with us. So I just wanted to give everyone a shout out that came and say thanks so much.

Gavin figured out how to open the lower drawer on the oven. He loves it, I don't. He loves taking out every pan in there and dragging it all over the house. The other day he got a cookie sheet out, put it on the kitchen floor and then decided to try and surf on it. That one hurt. He carried this cooling rack around with him all day yesterday, like it was the coolest thing ever. He would lay it on the carpet and walk on it and then open it up and put his other toys on top. Why do we waste our money on expensive toys? I need to just save my money until he's 14.

Gavin's mexican wrestling mask fishing hat is to small now, I found this hat at the Gap obviously, I was so excited to see it on him. I am just glad he doesn't mind wearing it. T.j and I both love wearing hats so I guess its in his blood. The only thing is that it makes him look so old! I don't know how I like that. Who does this picture at the bottom remind you of? Hint uncle Jake the snake. I love all the pic of him when he was younger just for the fact that he always smiled with his eye's closed. I can't believe how much that pic look like him. We took these a few days ago. Gavin had a heart attack. He just wanted to touch, touch, touch. Jake really wanted to be incharge of the fireworks, lets just say it took about an hour to light 20 small ones. But we had fun watching them. It was sad thought because we didn't really do anything with family. I missed it.

I am so excited! T.j. and I went to pick out the fabric for a new quilt that we get to keep this time. Here is a picture of it so far. It's not something I would ever really pick out for me. I had to make it a little masculine for T.J. This is the toned down version of our compromise. I think it will look really nice once it is done. Sunday is for Napping

T.J. and Gavin took a nap together the other day. Gavin had a fever most of the day. He was just wanting to cuddle. Every time we tried to lay him down he would wake up so T.J. finally just had a nap with him. Poor guy, he is 100% again. Yesterday he learned how to open the drawer under the oven. So he decided to pull out all my pans. He almost dropped one on Puddy. The dogs will be lucky if they survive Gavin.

Gavin is an extremely active little boy! He loves pulling things and breaking them apart. I am very lucky that I thought to buy the accident protection plan for my laptop. He already has broken off the shift key and completely ruined my power cable. I just got my new one in the mail. He I think one day I will come home and he will have the vacum cleaner apart. He will probably say "I just wanted to see how it worked". Just like his Dad. It's a good thing T.J. is good at fixing things. I guess I know now why.

We are all so glad it is finally warm! Gavin was so excited about this little pool I bought him. He filled it up all on his own. We are letting the water get warm right now. He gasped when I put his feet in it so I think it was a little cold for him.

He's so much work! He can pick up things now which is good. He is also getting better at crawling. The best is that every time he falls now I don't have to listen to him cry until I can pick him back up. He is crazy. The dogs are definitely in hiding. If you look closely on the first picture you can see a yellow bruise on his for head, on his right side. He was reaching for the coffee table and missed. His doctor saw him and about died. She just said " I thought you were supposed to be 9 months old." She said that it is very unusual at this age. The best was when I told her he had been walking for a month and a half at that point.

Last weekend we all went to the zoo. Gavin loved it. He was so amazed by the giraffes. He especially loved the treats. I felt like such a bad mother giving him cotton candy! We all had a lot of fun watching him eat it though. The weather was really nice and warm. Most of the animals were of coarse not out, but all in all it was a fun day. We also got another great family photo of T.j. myself and Gavin haha.

T.J's dad really wanted a photo of Gavin and his dad Marv. Unfortunately he passed away a few months before he was born so I photoshopped this picture for Jim. Gavin is the first great grandson to pass on the Carter name. That picture I have of Gavin in the giant pumpkin was one of last pumpkins he planted before he died.

Mississippi Mud Cake

I made this today. Yeah its really good. I don't recommend making it unless your wanting to gain 10 lbs.

2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 stick unsalted butter
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 cup water
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 bag miniature marshmallows

Icing:
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
1 (1-pound) box confectioners' sugar
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 by 9-inch baking pan.

Combine the sugar, salt, and flour in a large mixing bowl. Bring the butter, oil, cocoa, and 1/4 cup water to a boil in a saucepan. Add to the flour mixture.

Beat together the eggs, baking soda, buttermilk, and vanilla. Add to thechocolate mixture, mix well, and pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes.

While the cake is baking, make the icing by melting the butter in the cocoa and milk over low heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from the heat. Stir in the confectioners' sugar. Slowly mix in the nuts and the vanilla. Take the cake from the oven, and when it cools a bit cover it with miniature marshmallows. Pour the warm icing over the cake and the marshmallows. Cool the cake before serving.

Happy Mothers Day! I hope all of you had a nice relaxing day. I was able to sleep in! T.J. was so nice, he brought me breakfast in bed with roses, made me dinner and Gavin went over to T.j.'s parents house for a few hours. It was a really nice day. I am really lucky. Jake, Myself and our friends James and Bre went to the sandy aquarium. It was pretty dumb but Gavin loved it. He tried diving out of James's arms to get the stingrays. It was cute. We did have a lot of fun though. You can tell how interested Gavin was he didn't look at the camera in any of the pictures we got. He was just to busy.

Bluberry-Yogurt Muffins

I made these yesterday they are pretty good for a mid-day snack. Plus they are healthy!

This recipe is from "The Sugar Solution"

1 1/2 Cups whole wheat flour

2 Tablespoons Wheat Germ (I have used ground flax seed instead)

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoons salt

2 eggs

1 Cup low-fat plain yogurt

1/4 Cup packed brown sugar

2 Tablespoons Canola oil

1 1/2 Cups Blueberries

Preheat oven to 375 Degrees. Coat muffin pan with cooking spray

In a large bowl combine dry ingredients

In a small bowl combine wet ingredients

Mix wet in to dry just until dry ingredients are moistened. Stir in blueberries

Divide the batter into muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Transfer to a wire rack and cool slightly.

Freezes for up to one month

Makes 12 muffins

Per muffin: 125 calories, 4g protein, 20g carbohydrates, 4g fat, 2g dietary fiber.

Photoshoping

I love photoshoping pictures! Here are some that I have been working on. I am still learning but they are getting better. My favorite is taking inches off people. It's pretty crazy how good and realistic you can make them look. The biggest thing I have learned is that everything you see in magazines is completely FAKE! None of those photo's are untouched. If any of you have a photo that you want touched up e-mail it to me. I can whiten teeth, trim you up of brighten them. You can also delete images in the background.

I just wanted to give a shout out to the Washburns and say thanks for letting us come to visit. We had a lot of fun. It was sad to leave. I also just wanted to let Jaxon and Kaden know that I will get them back the next time I see them for the water fight we had. I won't forget!

Daddy's Little Buddy

T.J. missed us so much while we were in Arizona. Gavin had a huge grin on his face when he finally saw T.J. at the airport. Everyday when he comes home from work they play together. Gavin loves it. I think T.j. is trying to get him started on the gaming early. I wonder if there's any money in that? He'll be a great stage dad for gaming.

Surfer Gavin

I finally found a suit that was Gavins size. Of coarse it is extremely big on him. I also bought him a really cute hat and a surfer wet shirt. He hats the hat. But maybe when he's in the water he'll forget he's wearing it. He's so brave when it comes to water. He just wanted to walk through all the fountains. No big deal. He really gets a kick out of them. I can't wait for it to warm up so we can take him to Gateway mall. He's going to love all the fountains there. We went back to the same park as before, only we took Kimball, Jaxon and Kaden. We all had a lot of fun watching the kids. I really wish Tj could have come with us. Next time for sure. Last night we took him out on to the trampoline and bounced with him. He was exhausted from laughing so much. He slept really good that night! I really wanted to take him in the pool while we were here but, none of the pools are heated so we will just have to wait.

Pool Day

We went Jessica's neighborhood pool. We were so excited. Gavin was running to the water. It was about 85 degrees. We put our feet in the water and it was ice ice cold! I let Gavin walk on the steps a little but he mostly just wanted to sit in the shade and eat snacks with Sophia. We had a lot of fun though.

Cousin Sophia

Gavin and Sophia love playing. They are so cute together. Sophia thinks she's so big now. She plays good with Gavin until he uses her walker. She was being really funny feeding him these little treats. Every morning she wakes up and starts looking for us. Gavin loves being with all the kids. He follows them all over the house in his walker.

We are coming back today. We are both missing Tj so much! He's really excited too. It was 101 degrees yesterday. So we are just enjoying the weather as much as possible before we come back. Tj said it will be in the 50's when we get back. We have had so much fun here! I am so excited for SUMMER!

Yesterday we took the kids to a fountain park. They loved it. Gavin was in heaven. He was laughing so hard when the water sprayed him in the face. Sophia was a little timid about the water. They love playing together. We must have taken 20 pictures of them in their sunglasses to get a good picture. I don't want to come back to the cold. Jessica is begging us to stay longer. It's very tempting.

Little Walking Gavin

Gavin walked about 4 feet yesterday! He is doing so well. He's still refusing to crawl. We bought him a little walker, he runs around in it most of the day. He has a very cute personality. He just speeds around the house like he knows exactly where he is going. He's favorite thing to do is to chase the dogs around the house. They are very afraid of him, but very patient when he pulls their ears.
